We couldn’t help but fall in love with our latest custom commission furniture piece…a walnut & curly maple silverware chest. Sourced from Western PA walnut and Eastern PA curly maple, the chest was made to house our client’s collection of family heirloom silverware. Oil rubbed brass knobs, antiqued furniture casters and locking drawer hardware were chosen to complement the richness of the lumber. We even added a secret interior compartment for documents or other valuables. The details of the inlay began to grow as we laid out the designs and began working with the curly maple. We started with a few lines and it kept growing organically into the final layout. We’re hoping this piece gets handed down for generations to come. Truly one of favorite pieces to work on.

On the smaller scale of items we get called upon to build frequently are wood pedestals. Most often made for artists to display their work in galleries…great for glass, wood or metal sculpture or vessels…we can build them in pretty much any size and in any wood to suit the piece. They’re also great for tabletop retail displays. The ones featured above were made from local PA maple.
