At the core of our mission statement is the drive to reduce our consumption of new raw materials which is why we love being able to work on projects like this reclaimed dining table. Our client brought us several pieces of 100-year-old reclaimed building timbers with the request that we join the boards and make a custom dining tabletop from them. What always seems like an easy task when using reclaimed lumber, it usually turns into an intensive manhunt for old nails and screws that can’t be run through planers and jointers.

The addition of the client-designed steel rod legs (which bolt through the surface-mounted steel plates) added a mid-century modern flair to the “industrial rustic” aesthetic of the table. To avoid more catastrophic splitting of the dry &  soft lumber, 24 butterfly splines in total were added to the top and bottom of the table. Our only regret about this project is that it’s a one-of-a-kind piece, because we’d love to have one in our home too.

We’ve redesigned one of our most popular pieces in order to reduce cross-country shipping costs. Previously made as a solid piece of furniture, our walnut console table now disassembles into three pieces so it can ship in a smaller crate. Simple bolt-together assembly of the top and legs only takes a few minutes. Need a new custom-built hall or entry table? The table is currently available from our Etsy shop as a made-to-order item. Get yours here! As always…just contact us for custom sizes (prices vary).
