Women Greening The Pittsburgh Region – The Trophy
November 20, 2011 § 1 Comment
One of our most interesting projects of the past month was having the honor of designing and building the trophies for the Women & Girls Foundation’s “Women Greening The Pittsburgh Region” awards ceremony, which was held last night as part of their annual fundraising gala. The event honored “fifteen women who have played leadership roles in the environmental “greening” of Pittsburgh” and was held at the August Wilson Center for African-American Culture, Downtown. (Check out the article in the PG for the full list of honorees.) We created the awards from reclaimed walnut lumber which featured a sculptural form meant to represent the female spirit embodied in earthly wood. We also partnered with local laser fabricators Laser Lab Studio to engrave the green plates and the names on the bases. This was a great project and we were glad to have a small part in honoring the positive environmental impact of several inspiring Pittsburghers.
